The launch event, held in Kisumu, brought together key stakeholders including financial institutions, innovators, and government representatives\u2014most notably Samson Kidera, Western Region Coordinator for the State Department of Blue Economy and Fisheries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Samaki Bima<\/strong>\u00a0is Kenya\u2019s first comprehensive insurance policy for fish farms, covering both on\u2011shore and off\u2011shore operations. It offers protection against losses caused by disease outbreaks, climate disruptions, and other operational risks\u2014providing a financial safety net that encourages reinvestment and long-term sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFish farming is a vital part of Kenya\u2019s food system and economy. With <strong>Samaki Bima<\/strong>, we\u2019re not just offering insurance\u2014we\u2019re offering peace of mind,\u201d said Duncan Kamau, Chief Operating Officer, GA Insurance Kenya.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative aligns with Kenya\u2019s Blue Economy strategy under Vision 2030, which identifies aquaculture as a high-impact sector capable of generating up to KES 25 billion in annual export revenue and creating over 500,000 jobs by 2030.
