With a view to beefing up capacity in our underwriting department in response to the exponential business growth registered since our entry into the market, we seek to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic, talented, qualified, and experienced individual willing to join the team in the role of Senior Underwriter reporting into the Underwriting Manager.<\/p>\n

Key Duties and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Issuance of Underwriting Documentation<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Issuance of Tax Invoices, Debits, Credits, and policy documents for business accepted as per the agreed terms with the insured and in line with set departmental service standards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      1. Risk management:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

         <\/p>\n

          \n
        • Evaluation of risks as per risk appetite, the reinsurance treaty, and underwriting manual<\/li>\n
        • Review loss-making accounts and provide risk improvement measures<\/li>\n
        • Ensure inspections for risks accepted are done as guided by the underwriting manual<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          1. Processing of Quotations: <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

              \n
            • Process quotations within the agreed time frame and maintain a register<\/li>\n
            • Closely monitor all quotations to brokers, agents and direct clients for closure<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              1. Service Delivery and Customer Experience<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

                  \n
                • Review and follow up outstanding premiums from brokers, agents, and direct clients. This is in line with the company\u2019s credit policy.<\/li>\n
                • Ensure policy documents, quotations, and all required documents are issued and delivered as per Service level agreements<\/li>\n
                • Ensure all customers are attended to whenever they need service from the underwriting team<\/li>\n
                • Ensure all queries from customers are attended to timeously within the company service charter<\/li>\n
                • Attend to all incoming mail and instructions, responding to them promptly<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                  1. Management of the Renewal Process <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                    \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

                      \n
                    • Ensure the retention of existing business as per\/Renewal retention target<\/li>\n
                    • Ensure that the monthly renewal notices are processed, issued, dispatched, and followed through for each confirmation as guided by the underwriting manual<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                      1. Accountable Documents <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                          \n
                        • Ensure proper documentation and accountability for all accountable documents including certificates\/stickers of motor insurance, signed and executed bond documents, collateral and counter indemnity documents, etc.<\/li>\n
                        • Review and ensure outstanding bonds are canceled when due.<\/li>\n
                        • Ensure there is frequent motor certificate reconciliation and report on the same monthly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                          1. Compliance <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                            \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

                              \n
                            • Ensure Statutory and regulatory guidelines are adhered to when offering quotations, issuing policies and placing reinsurance<\/li>\n
                            • To Ensure prescribed underwriting guidelines are adhered to as per company policy and underwriting manual<\/li>\n
                            • Support the underwriting manager in preparing regulatory reports as per the set timeframes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                              1. Reinsurance Processing <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

                                  \n
                                • Ensure timely and correct reinsurance allocations for all policies handled or reviewed for all businesses as per treaty provisions and regulatory direction<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                   <\/p>\n

                                    \n
                                  1. Credit Control<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                                      \n
                                    • Ensure that the credit policy is adhered to at all times at issuance of covers<\/li>\n
                                    • Assist in managing premium payment arrangements and ensure follow up and periodic reporting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                      1. MIS Reports <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                                          \n
                                        • Update all records and registers on a continuous basis<\/li>\n
                                        • Assist in the preparation of reports on production for the;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                                            \n
                                          1. Monthly production reports; actual Vs Budget<\/li>\n
                                          2. Stickers utilization reports<\/li>\n
                                          3. Quotation reports<\/li>\n
                                          4. Bonds reports<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                            Qualifications, Experience, and Skills<\/strong><\/p>\n

                                              \n
                                            • Bachelors Degree in Business, Law or any other related field<\/li>\n
                                            • Professional Insurance Qualification at a Minimum of Diploma in Insurance level (DIP CII or DIP ITC) or its equivalent<\/li>\n
                                            • Proven numerical, analytical, negotiation and communication skills<\/li>\n
                                            • High Level of Personal and Professional Integrity<\/li>\n
                                            • Ability to work well under pressure and with minimum supervision<\/li>\n
